How to Clean a Bathroom in 15 Minutes: A Quick Step-by-Step Routine
A bathroom doesn't need an hour of scrubbing every week. If you work in the right order and let your cleaner do some of the work, you can get it fresh in about 15 minutes. This routine is for regular weekly cleaning — save the deep clean for once a month.

What you'll need
- An all-purpose bathroom cleaner (or separate toilet and bathroom cleaners)
- Glass cleaner or a microfiber cloth for the mirror
- A toilet brush
- 2–3 microfiber cloths — one just for the toilet
- Gloves
- A small broom, handheld vacuum or dry floor wipe
Open a window or turn on the fan before you start.
The 15-minute routine
Step 1: Clear surfaces and take out the trash (2 minutes)
Put away everything on the counter, the edge of the bath and the back of the toilet. Empty the bin and take out used towels. You can't clean around clutter.
Step 2: Spray the toilet, sink and shower (1 minute)
Spray cleaner on the sink, the shower or bath, and the outside of the toilet. Add toilet cleaner under the rim. Check the label for how long to leave it — letting it sit loosens grime so you scrub less.
Step 3: Wipe the mirror and fixtures (3 minutes)
While the cleaner works, clean the mirror, then wipe light switches, door handles and the towel rail. Work top to bottom, so dust and drips fall onto areas you haven't cleaned yet.
Step 4: Scrub the toilet, then the sink (5 minutes)
- Toilet: brush the bowl, then wipe the outside from top to bottom — tank, lid, seat (both sides), rim and base. Use the dedicated toilet cloth.
- Sink: wipe the basin, faucet and counter with a separate cloth. Polish the faucet with a dry cloth.
Step 5: Rinse the shower and do the floor (4 minutes)
Rinse the shower or bath walls and the tub, wipe the glass, then sweep or vacuum the floor and wipe around the base of the toilet. Hang fresh towels, and you're done.
Safety first
- Never mix cleaning products. Bleach mixed with ammonia, vinegar or other acids can release dangerous gases. Use one product at a time and rinse between them.
- Follow the label for dilution, contact time and ventilation.
- Wear gloves and keep the room ventilated.
- Store products in their original containers, out of reach of children and pets.
Keep it clean between cleans
- Squeegee or wipe the shower glass after each use
- Keep a small pack of cleaning wipes or a cloth and spray under the sink for 30-second touch-ups
- Hang towels to dry fully to prevent musty smells
